I am thrilled to announce my upcoming exhibition, Diabetes Mellitus, curated by Bram Groenteman, at Het Salon Amsterdam, opening on Friday, 15 November. This exhibition explores the (in)visibility of Type 1 diabetes through a series of vibrant portrait paintings featuring individuals living with the condition. While the subjects are depicted in bold, colorful styles, a closer look reveals the essential devices they rely on—insulin pumps, pens, and sensors—woven into the artwork.
Accompanying the exhibition is a publication titled Diabetes Mellitus, featuring essays by Edwin Becker, Head Curator of the Van Gogh Museum, and curator and writer Bram Groenteman. The graphic design is by Julian Kleyn of Studio Berry Slok, with the book printed by Rob Stolk.
Through this exhibition and the accompanying publication, I aim to spark conversation about the long-term consequences of Type 1 diabetes, as well as the mental and physical health challenges associated with it. At the same time, I hope these portraits stand on their own as powerful representations of resilient individuals capable of anything.

I am thrilled to invite you to the Open Studio of Het Salon Amsterdam, where I, along with artists like Kévin Bray, Studio Bex, and Paolo Notaristefano, will open our studio doors to share our artistic practices with you. We will be discussing our works, explaining our creative processes, and talking about the inspirations and driving forces behind our art.
Het Salon Amsterdam will be open from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a guided tour through all of our studios at 4:00 PM. Whether you'd like to join us for the tour or simply drop by to explore the spaces and enjoy a drink, you are warmly welcome on Saturday, the 24th of August.
This is also a unique opportunity to also acquire my work at favorable rates before I move to London to begin the prestigious Turps Studio Programme.
The Open Studio is part of the Papaverhoek Festival, where other exciting spots on the block, such as De Ceuvel, Zomerbar, Klaproos, and No-Yusu, along with many other inspiring places, will also open their doors. Click here for more information.
